Match Made in Mondays #7

Hello and happy Monday! The main thing keeping me going today is the understanding that we are now one day closer to Thanksgiving… although I don’t know what to tell my non-American followers.
If you don’t already know what Match Made in Mondays is, it’s a meme that I started here on my blog where matches and made and good times are had. Basically I throw out a topic and anyone who wants to participate can fill in the blanks (or bolded words) with what you believe would make a perfect match. It’ll make more sense once you continued reading, but you can find more information here.

this book/series + one more book = a match made in mondays

Now, obviously the first series that popped into my mind was Harry Potter. There’s not a book lover out there who wouldn’t love to have another book in that series (assuming, of course, that they’ve read Harry Potter). However, it’s been quite a few years since the last installment and J.K. Rowling doesn’t seem to have any plans to churn out another book.

Besides, The Deathly Hallows was a very satisfying conclusion, and we wouldn’t want to risk ruining that with a un-needed sequel (although I’m sure anything J.K. Rowling wrote would be perfect).
Keeping that in mind, I tried instead to think of a series that really needed another installment instead of one that I just wanted. I decided to go with The Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare.
I read these books a couple of months ago (you can see my review for the whole series here – 1, 2, and 3), and while they weren’t my favorite books in the world, I did really enjoy them. However, they could totally use a fourth book.
I mean (and I’ll be vague to avoid spoilers), that epilogue. It was twenty pages long, but so many crazy things happened. There was definitely as much action crammed into those twenty pages as they was in the last half or so of the entire book, and considering the length of Clockwork Princess, the last half is certainly long enough to be its own book.
I just wish that the events of the epilogue could have been spread out more and described in more detail. Like:

pg. 545: Awwwww, bless their hearts.
Some super long passage of time but only four book pages later…
pg. 549: Well that’s super depressing. And now I’m crying.

I didn’t even have enough time to enjoy the actual ending of the book before the epilogue broke me. I think that super long passage of time could easily be another book, and not just some out-of-the-blue flash forward in Clockwork Princess. Then maybe the rest of the the original epilogue could be the epilogue for that new book.
Plus, I’m so over trilogies and this series didn’t even need to be one! Fix it.

The end! For those of you who haven’t read TID that might’ve been super vague and confusing, but at least I didn’t spoil you. You should definitely read the books for yourself, they’re really fun!
